Planning Your Israel Road Trip
The best time to go on a road trip through Israel is during the spring and autumn months. The spring season runs from March to May and the autumn season runs from September to October. During these months, you’ll get to experience the best weather and landscapes that Israel has to offer. However we did our road trip in January and although a bit chilly at times the climate was really good.
If you’re planning a road trip through Israel, it’s essential that you plan your route in advance. Depending on the length of your trip, you’ll have to decide which cities and sites you want to visit and in what order. You’ll also need to plan your accommodations and transportation ahead of time.
When planning your road trip through Israel, it’s also important to familiarize yourself with the local laws and customs. Make sure to research the dress codes, public transportation rules, and other regulations to ensure your safety and respect for the country.
Day One: Sea of Galilee, Safed, Nazareth, and Acre
Our first stop on our road trip through Israel was the Sea of Galilee. This is a beautiful lake located in the north of Israel and it is known for its religious significance. You can take a boat tour of the lake and visit the historical sites around it.
We explored the ancient ruins, churches, and other historical sites scattered around the area. You can also enjoy a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, and boating, or take a relaxing cruise on the sea. The beauty of the Sea of Galilee will leave you in awe and admiration, making it the perfect destination for an unforgettable travel experience.
After exploring the Sea of Galilee, you can continue your road trip to Safed.
Safed is a beautiful town in the Upper Galilee, and it's a great place to visit if you're interested in ancient culture. Safed is a small city and it is known for its artists’ quarter and its ancient synagogues. The town is home to the beautiful old Jewish Quarter, as well as a number of interesting museums. And of course, there's the famous Safed Fortress, which is worth a visit. Safed is also a great base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.
When you leave Safed, you can continue your road trip to the city of Nazareth. This is an important religious site as it is said to be the hometown of Jesus. You can explore the old city and visit the Church of the Annunciation.
For us Nazareth was disappointing. travelers should be aware of the city’s disappointing tourist attractions. There is little to see in the city center and nothing of interest beyond the central area.
Your last stop of the day should be Acre. This is an ancient port city located on the Mediterranean coast of Israel. You can explore the old city and visit the ancient fortress and the old market.
Acre is a small town in northern Israel, and is home to some of the country's most amazing markets and souks. this is a must see destination on your road trip. The town's main attraction is the market, which is open every day except Monday. The market might not be the largest in Israel but is certainly one of the best and is full of local produce, spices, and handicrafts. It's a great place to buy souvenirs or take a break from bustling Jerusalem. It's full of traditional Arab shops selling everything from spices to clothes. It's a great place to buy souvenirs or take a boat trip.
Day Two: Exploring Jerusalem
The second day of our road trip was spent exploring Jerusalem. This is one of the most important cities in Israel and it is known for its religious and historical sites. You can take a walking tour of the old city and explore the different neighborhoods.
In the old city, you can visit the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Dome of the Rock. You can also visit the nearby Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane.
After exploring the old city, you can explore the modern city of Jerusalem. You can visit the Israel Museum, the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, and the Israel Parliament.
Day Three: Road Trip Through The Judean Desert & Masada National Park
On the third day of our road trip we drove through the Judean Desert to Masada National Park. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is known for its ancient ruins and stunning views.
At Masada National Park, you can explore the archaeological site and the ancient fortifications. You can also take a cable car to the top of the mountain and enjoy the views of the Dead Sea.
Masada National Park is one of the most amazing places on earth. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered by many to be the best place to see incredible views of the Dead Sea. The park is also home to one of the most impressive archaeological finds in Israel - the ancient fortress of Masada. Masada is located in the Judean Desert and can be reached by car or by bus via the Dead Sea road. The hike to Masada takes about 2 hours, and it is well worth the effort. The views from Masada are simply mind-blowing, and it is worth spending at least a day here to experience everything the park has to offer. If you're looking for a truly unforgettable experience, Masada National Park is definitely the place for you.
After exploring Masada National Park, you can continue your road trip to the nearby Beit Guvrin-Maresha National Park. This is an archaeological site that contains ancient subterranean cities and impressive cave dwellings.
Day Four: Swimming in the Dead Sea, Ein Bokek, Mitzpe Ramon
Our fourth stop on our road trip was the Dead Sea. This is the lowest point on earth and it is known for its high salt content. Swimming in the Dead Sea is a unique experience and it is said to have therapeutic benefits.
After swimming in the Dead Sea, you can continue your road trip to Ein Bokek. This is a resort town located on the southern shore of the Dead Sea. You can relax on the beach and take a mud bath.
The next stop on our road trip was Mitzpe Ramon. This is a small town located in the Negev Desert and it is known for its stunning views. From Mitzpe Ramon, you can explore the nearby canyons and take a Jeep tour of the desert.

Day Five: Exploring Palestine/West Bank
If you have the time, you should spend a day exploring the West Bank. This is an area located between Israel and Jordan and it is known for its religious sites.
The first stop on your trip should be Bethlehem. This is an important religious site as it is said to be the birthplace of Jesus. You can visit the Church of the Nativity and explore the old city.

Day Six: Tel-Aviv
Our last stop on our road trip was Tel-Aviv where we returned the hire car and took a train into the city. This is Israel’s largest city and it is known for its vibrant culture and nightlife. You can explore the city’s markets, visit the beaches, and take a tour of the old city.
You can also explore the nearby city of Jaffa. This is an ancient port city located on the Mediterranean coast and it is known for its winding alleyways and vibrant art scene. Old town Jaffa is full of shops selling relics from the past, some of the shops are like living museums!
