We’re Riding Around the World!
We're Sean and Emily, and Heading Around is our ongoing round-the-world motorcycle expedition and documentary series.
In 2025, we left the UK with one rather ambitious plan: to ride a motorcycle around the world together. Just the two of us, Storm (our BMW R1300 GS Adventure), everything we could carry, and no support crew or backup vehicle. We had an idea of where we wanted to go, but no fixed route and certainly no return date.
What began as a dream years in the making has become our everyday life.
So far, our journey has taken us across Europe, through Türkiye and Central Asia, over the mountains of China and Tibet, across Southeast Asia and onwards to New Zealand and Australia. We've crossed extraordinary landscapes, experienced different cultures, navigated countless challenges and discovered places we once only dreamed of visiting.
And we still have so much of the world left to explore.
For us, Heading Around has never been about reaching a particular number of countries or kilometres. It's about the freedom to explore, the people we meet along the way and the opportunity to experience this extraordinary world together.
And the adventure is happening right now.
We're still living on the road, riding, exploring and documenting our experiences as we go. We film and produce the entire journey ourselves, sharing regular episodes of our Heading Around series on YouTube while the expedition continues.
There is no finish date, no definitive route and no countdown to coming home. We're simply making our way around the world, one stage at a time, with so much more still ahead of us.

The greatest adventure of their lives begins. Leaving Britain behind, Sean and Emily ride across Europe, through the towering Alps, the rugged Balkans and some of the continent's most spectacular motorcycle roads. With every border, the familiar world falls further behind. Sixteen countries, countless mountain passes and one motorcycle carrying everything they own. This is where the dream of riding around the world becomes reality.
Countries: United Kingdom, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Greece.
Stage One - Europe
Beyond Europe, the expedition enters a different world. From the ancient landscapes of Türkiye to Georgia's formidable Caucasus Mountains, the road leads towards one of the journey's most daunting borders. With Russia at war, crossing the country by motorcycle carries a different weight. Unfamiliar bureaucracy, geopolitical uncertainty and thousands of kilometres of unknown territory stand between Sean and Emily and the vast wilderness of Central Asia.

Stage two - Turkey, Georgia & Russia
Across the vast wilderness of Central Asia, the expedition takes on some of the toughest roads on Earth. From Kazakhstan's endless horizons to the ancient cities of the Silk Road, the journey culminates in Tajikistan's legendary Pamir Highway and Wakhan Valley, overlooking Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor. Extreme altitude, punishing terrain and extraordinary isolation push rider, passenger and machine to their limits.

Stage three - Central Asia
China opens the door to one of the expedition's most extraordinary chapters. Sean and Emily ride across the vast Tibetan Plateau, tackling some of the highest motorcycle roads on the planet. At altitudes exceeding 5,000 metres, the landscape becomes almost otherworldly. Remote passes, ancient Tibetan culture and the journey to Everest Base Camp make this an unforgettable crossing of the world's highest inhabited region.

Stage four - China & Tibet
Stage five - Laos, Thailand & Malaysia
After the extremes of Tibet, the expedition plunges into an entirely different world. Winding mountain roads in Laos give way to the tropical heat, relentless traffic and extraordinary contrasts of Thailand and Malaysia. Ancient traditions meet modern megacities as Sean and Emily discover a side of Asia that could hardly be further removed from the frozen heights of the Himalayas.

New Zealand becomes a spectacular new chapter in the expedition. Across 15,000 kilometres, Sean and Emily take their fully loaded BMW deep into the country's rugged landscapes, venturing beyond the tarmac and onto remote off-road tracks through the South Island. Towering alpine mountains, isolated valleys and demanding gravel roads deliver some of the most exhilarating riding of their journey, in a country seemingly built for adventure.

Stage six - New Zealand
Australia delivers the expedition's greatest test of endurance yet. Over 95 days, Sean and Emily complete a staggering 31,626-kilometre motorcycle lap of the continent, from Tasmania's wild backroads to the brutal isolation of the Outback. The Oodnadatta Track, the legendary Great Central Road, extreme distances and a crash on a treacherously slippery crossing make this one of their most demanding adventures.
